AI-Generated Alt text for your images and video thumbnails

Available for Business, Pro, Premium and Agency Plans

Flockler now supports AI-generated alt text for images and video thumbnails, helping your website meet accessibility standards and improve SEO.

What is Alt text and why it matters?

Alt text (short for "alternative text") is a written description of an image that:

  • Improves accessibility for people using screen readers
  • Acts as fallback content if an image doesn’t load
  • Helps search engines understand what’s in the image (for better SEO)

With this feature, Flockler uses an AI model (LLM) to automatically generate short and meaningful descriptions for images and video thumbnails — no extra work needed on your side.

How it works

When you’re on an eligible plan, and your post includes an image or video thumbnail, Flockler generates a description to an image and adds it as the alt  attribute in the image’s HTML (but not shown directly in the UI).

You can view and edit the generated alt text:

  1. Open the Content tab, find the post you want to check and click the Edit button:

  1. Review or edit the Alt text field as needed

Supported channels

AI-generated alt text is added to content from the following channels:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • X (formerly Twitter)
  • LinkedIn
  • YouTube
  • TikTok
  • Pinterest
  • RSS Feeds

📌 Note: For all video content, only the video thumbnail (cover image) is supported. Alt text is not generated for the video file itself.

Supported media types

Flockler generates alt text for:

  • Static images
  • Video thumbnails (cover images only)

Flockler won't generate alt text:

  • If a post doesn’t include an image or a video thumbnail
  • If a post added manually from the Content tab - but you can still add the Alt-text manually by editing the post before publishing:

Language and translation

Alt text is always generated in English by default. However, it can be translated by any browser-based translation tool (e.g., Google Translate, Microsoft Edge Translator):

  • If your website visitor uses a browser translation tool, the alt text will be translated along with the rest of the page.
  • If you’re embedding Flockler via an iframe, translation tools won’t affect the content inside the iframe including the alt text, because it's hosted separately from your main page.

That’s it!

This feature works quietly in the background saving you time, improving accessibility, and giving your visitors a better, more inclusive experience.
