An example of a social media feed for Joomla websites

Are you looking to display social media feeds on Joomla websites? Here’s a three-step guide on how to add social media feeds to any Joomla website and page:

  1. Store social media posts from Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and more

  2. Choose the layout: Wall, Grid, Carousel, or Slideshow

  3. Embed a social media feed on any Joomla website

If you already have a Flockler account and you have gathered content, skip step 1.

1. Store social media posts from Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and more

If you don’t have a Flockler account for your organisation, sign up for our free trial. No credit is required, and there’s no commitment.

After signing up, you will be automatically directed to the 'Feeds' tab, where you can create feeds gathering content from Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and more. Select, for example, Instagram and connect your account. After connecting your account, you can display content from any Business Instagram account, a hashtag feed, or mentions of the Business you manage.

For step-by-step instructions and examples, check tutorials on Flockler’s YouTube channel.

Would you like to show more than one account or hashtag or mix Instagram content with content from another channel like TikTok? With Flockler, you can combine social media feeds from multiple accounts, hashtags or channels and display them all in one place. See the list of supported social media channels and content types that you can display together.

2. Choose the layout: Wall, Grid, Carousel, or Slideshow

After creating the feed, Flockler directs you to the Display tab. From there, you can select a layout for your social media feed.

You can add the embed code to any Joomla page – create as many layouts and embed codes as you need. From embed code’s settings, you can edit the look & feel and, for example, select how many of the latest posts are shown on your website.

3. Embed a social media feed on any Joomla website

And now it’s time to embed a social media feed on your Joomla website. For this tutorial, we will show you two different methods:

  1. Add a social media feed to any Joomla page

  2. Add a social media feed to all Joomla pages

1. Add a social media feed to any Joomla page

Follow these instructions if you are looking to add Flockler to a single page:

  1. In the Joomla management, click 'Content', select 'Articles', and then click 'Add New Article'.

Create a new article on Joomla CMS

  2. In the article editor, add a title for your post and then click the 'Code' button in the toolbar.

Add 'Code' to the Joomla article

  3. A window opens with a field for the embed code. Go to Flockler’s Display tab and copy and paste the social media feed embed code into the field. Then click 'Insert'.

Add a social media feed embed code to Joomla’s editor

  4. Then click 'Save & Close'. If you like, you can add the page to the site menu from Joomla’s menu editing tools.

Publish a new article on Joomla

  5. And finally, a social media feed shows up!

2. Add a social media feed to all Joomla pages

Joomla website developers can use Modules to display social media feeds on all pages. For example, you might want to display social media posts above the footer on every page.

  1. In the Joomla management, click 'Extensions' and select 'Modules'.

  2. Then click the 'New' button.

Add a new module on Joomla

  3. From the list, select 'Custom'.

Select a custom module on Joomla

  4. Then click the 'Code' button in the toolbar.

Add 'Code' to a custom module

  5. A window opens. Copy and paste the Instagram feed embed code from Flockler to the field and click 'Insert'.

Add a social media feed embed code to Joomla’s editor

  6. Give a title for the Module and select the position from the right. Here you might need the help of your website developer to make sure the Module shows up on all pages and that the selected position is not in use for another purpose.

  7. Finally, click 'Save & Close', and the social media feed is embedded on your Joomla website.
